SSUNI Meets with The King’s Trust
On 14th November, members of our Executive met with members of The King’s Trust to discuss our new working groups and projects aimed at empowering young people. The meeting also provided an opportunity to learn more about how King’s Trust’s various programs support young people, and how we can work together to best represent youth voice.
One of the highlights of the discussion was King’s Trust’s focus on ensuring the education system can cater to every students needs, and is not merely a ‘one-size fits all’ approach, an issue that is currently being explored by our ‘Future of Education’ Working Group. We discussed our shared commitment to ensuring all young people can reach their potential in securing employment and discussed how our members can get involved in their employment and skills programs.
Moreover, we shared the current work of our newly established working groups, such as our continuing campaign with the Northern Ireland Youth Forum on Mental Health, our Feminist Society and our Modern languages Working Group. This enabled us to provide further input surrounding the most pressing issues for young people currently in Education.
It was a productive discussion, and by continuing to work alongside organisations like KingsTrust, we aim to utilise every possible opportunity in order to campaign for the implementation of youth-led change in our Education System.
